Frequently asked questions
Here are some first answers to the most frequently asked questions.
How do I set up my check-in?
The first time you open AliveGuard it walks you through setup in three steps – trusted contact, check-in time, done. You pick a time of day by which you should check in; with Premium you can set up to five times a day. You can change all of it later in the settings.
What happens if I miss a check-in?
If you miss a check-in, AliveGuard waits for the grace period you configured and then automatically notifies your trusted contacts by email. With Premium, SMS and – once a contact has agreed to it – WhatsApp alerts go out as well. Automatic email alerts are unlimited in every version.
Will my contacts be notified without my consent?
No. You remain in full control at all times. You can switch the alarm off in the settings, reset a running countdown, or edit your contacts whenever you like. Notifications only ever occur within the rules you have set.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app under Settings → Delete Account. All your data will then be permanently removed within 30 days. If you run into any issues, our support team is happy to help.
I've found a bug. What should I do?
We appreciate every report. Please describe the issue briefly in an email – a screenshot and your system version (iOS or Android) are very helpful. We'll look into it.
What does AliveGuard cost?
The app is free and includes one emergency contact, one daily check-in and unlimited email alerts. Premium extends that to up to 5 contacts, up to 5 daily check-in times and up to 5 SMS alerts per month – each one reaching every contact – plus WhatsApp alerts to contacts who have agreed to receive them. Premium is available monthly or yearly; you will see the price on the App Store or Google Play.
Can I set up AliveGuard for a relative?
Yes. Right in the first setup step you choose whether you are setting the app up for yourself or for someone else – every screen is then worded for that person. One thing to keep in mind: the protected person does the check-ins themselves, so AliveGuard has to run on their device. You can add yourself as an emergency contact and will be notified if they do not check in.
